Samsung Unpacked Recap
Samsung, like many companies, has had to go virtual this year for many of their tech launches. The keynote was one of a kind, with very cheesy acting and dramatic revels perfectly done in the typical Samsung way! This year we saw the announcements of the Galaxy Note 20 series, Tab S7, Watch 3, and highly anticipated Z Fold 2. All devices are crammed with tech so let's talk about some of the big features they talked about.
Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra
Samsung carried on its Note series this year with two new flagship phones to take the spotlight. The Note 20 starts at $999 and comes with a 6.7-inch 60Hz display. The Note 20 Ultra starts at $1,299 with a 6.9-inch 120Hz display. All specs below
Refresh to update
Android tablets don't run the show in the tablet world but they do exist and they do have an audience. Samsung shook the boat with the new Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus this year with high-end specs that will give the iPad Pro a run for its money. Both 11 and 12.4-inch models spot a 120Hz OLED display and start at $649.99. As an iPad Pro user, I am jealous of the OLED display which ipads lack. It runs on Samsungs latest version of android and houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ for faster performance. Alongside the tablets is a new keyboard case and magnetic S Pen to make the for power users, the S Pen is included in the box which is a nice touch. Both sport 5G and is available now for preorder and will be shipping by Aug 20th.
The Galaxy Watch 3 brings features to compete with the Apple Watch this year. With ECG and Oxygen monitoring the watch has a classic round look to it. Better displays, custom watch faces, and premium straps starting at $399 for Bluetooth and LTE AT $449+. Samsung promises 2 days of battery life with the bigger battery. New auto workout features lets you keep track of your activity even when you forget. Fall detection and sleep tracking are additions to this years watch keeping it up to date with the competition and is available for pre-order now!
Galaxy Buds Live
Since headphone jacks are the thing of the past, Samsung has updated its wireless earphone line with the 'Buds Live'. They come with Bixby, Noice cancellation, live listen, touch controls, and 21 hours of battery (with the case that is) They come in at $179 and have 3 colour options to choose from. Pre-order is available now and they will ship by 20th August.
Z Fold 2
The phone everyone was waiting for. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 refreshed with everything we wanted. Bigger outer display, Slimmer bezels, Hole punch displays x2, bigger tablet screen, and better durability makes this foldable phone hold its ground as the best foldable on the market. Folding phone still have mixed opinions in the tech world, but Samsung has been doing everything to be the first to perfect the technology and its groundbreaking. The outer display is now a more usable 6.2-inch display and the inside at 7.6inch. Samsung has included its step snap hinge used in the Z Flip for more usable angles while using the phone. The device has been designed to be more durable and add what the first version of fold lacked. Details on price and Availablity are yet to be announced but since the original Fold cost £1,980 you can only imagine. The full launch of the Fold 2 will be held on September 1st, when we find out more we will let you know.
